In reading the Alexandria, MN Echo Press for Friday, I thought that I should report this to my blog for future posterity…
“Just how unusual has the weather been this winter? In addition to the lack of snow, consider this:
-Temperatures hit 50 degrees twice this month…55 on January 5 and 50 on January 10. That hasn’t happened in at least 20 years. In fact, while researching the past two decades of high temps recorded in Alexandria, MN; we couldn’t find a single day in January when temperatures hit 50 degrees – other than this year.
-Temperaturees have repeatedly broken records in Alexandria, Mn during the past couple of weeks. The 50 degree high on January 10 beat the 47 degreee records that’s stood since 1990, and January 9′s high of 47 degrees shattered the old record of 44 degrees set in 1958.
-Since the start of the year, temperatures have ranged from 1 degree on January 2 to 55 degrees on January 5.
-For the month of December, Alexandria, MN had an average of 24.4 degrees – 9.6 degrees above average.
-Temperaturees hit 40 degrees or more three times in December. That hasn’t happened since 2006.
